It’s a good time to be alive, and the best thing about being alive today is that you could land a high-paying job without a graduate degree. Awesome, isn’t it?
Today, you can land a great job if you have the skills for it, even when you lack the work experience or education. These jobs, New Collar Jobs, could also be referred to as the middle-skill job.
So, which jobs are these? What can you do and get paid good money for it without spending four years in college? Some of these jobs only require vocational training, two-year degrees, apprenticeship, or a certificate program. The other good part about these jobs is that they are available in different industries from manufacturing, healthcare, and IT. They include:
1. Au Pair
An Au Pair is a young individual, often aged between 17 and 30 years, who travel abroad to learn more about a different culture or improve their language and professional skills by living with a host in exchange for offering help around the house or with children.
Au Pair is derived from the French words for On Equal Terms, and it means that the Au Pair and the host family treat each party as equals. Often, the Au Pair gets regular meals, accommodation, as well as pocket money in exchange for the services rendered and the skills gained.
2. Nanny
If you are passionate about caring for others and don’t mind living in with a family as an employee to be paid for the services, then you might want to try the nanny job. Most nannies are live-in professionals.
One of the reasons why this is a good job for someone without a degree is that you can be a nanny at any age (adult age), and the best bit is that you agree on the working hours with the family.
3. Computer Programmer
This job involves creating, writing, and testing codes and improve the functioning of computer programs and applications. Most computer programmers are self-taught.
4. Computer security analyst
Also called an information security analyst protects an organization’s networks and computer systems.
5. Computer support specialist
This specialist helps employees with computer and software issues. To be a computer support specialist, you only need some computer knowledge. Companies like Spruik Technologies will train employees on how to implement various types of software.
6. Database Manager/ Administrator
The role of a database administrator is to store and organize organizational data using specific software
7. Media and Communication Equipment workers
The role of a media and communication person is to install, maintain, and repair audio-visual systems for homes and businesses.
8. Network specialist
If you have good interpersonal skills, interest, and knowledge of computers, you could get a job as a network specialist. Often, this job involves dealing with Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network.
9. Web Developer
Web development and design are two lucrative jobs that can be learned and mastered without a college degree. The job entails tasks such as the creation, design, and modification of websites.
10. Makeup Artist
There are many makeup artists around today, and the interesting bit is that the best of these professionals do not have any college degree, yet they make good money from their gigs.
