📈 60% of US workers report covering at work in the last 12 months.
💡 Despite the increased attention paid to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion over the past ten years, covering is ubiquitous and continues to have a significant negative impact. Of workers who have been at their organization for at least five years, 85% report that the need to coverhas either stayed the same or increased during this time.
💥 The focus should not be on fixing workers’ covering behavior, but rather on addressing the covering demands imposed by organizational culture, according to a new interesting research published by Deloitte in collaboration with Meltzer Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at NYU School of Law using data from a survey of 1,269 US employees across five industry categories between February 15 – March 14, 2023.
