Anshula Kant, who was popularly known for her leadership position as managing director at State Bank Of India, has become the first female to be appointed as the managing director and chief financial officer of World Bank.
David Malpass, president of the World Bank Group, made this announcement on Friday, also adding that moving forward, Anshula will be responsible for the financial and risk management of the reputed lender.
The future is female
In his announcement and welcoming speech, Malpass said: “I am very pleased to appoint Anshula Kant as World Bank Group Managing Director and CFO. Anshula brings more than 35 years of expertise in finance, banking, and innovative use of technology through her work as CFO of the State Bank of India. I look forward to welcoming her to our management team, as we work to increase our effectiveness in supporting good development outcomes.”
