A Foolproof Guide to Thesis Writing

By | Kaylee Brown

Being a student, it is understood that the proficiency to write a thesis is associated with confusion and stress. Many articles guide you to write a thesis perfectly. However, I have observed that it only gives you superficial guidance. I think there is a requirement for foolproof guidance to write a thesis that reflects your mastery in your domain. The present blog will guide you on how to write a perfect thesis that gives a remarkable reflection of your skill.

First, you should know what is the thesis

You all must have heard the word thesis several times, but what does it exactly mean? I have communicated with many students are they said is just a part of the university assignment that includes research on a particular topic. Here is the mistake where students end up doing and write a thesis in a normal way. The thesis is the way by which you all have to retrieve information showcase your analytical and problem-solving skills. When you finish writing your thesis, you will be acquainted with the method of academic evidence retrieval and able to analyze the significance of published research.  Initiating writing a thesis, you need to be familiar with the recognized pacts of academic writing and hence helps you to devote more consideration to the academic content of your effort.

The process that rises credibility to write a thesis

The process of writing a thesis begins with choosing the topic. For writing a thesis you need to choose the topic yourself that is new and should discuss regrading it with your faculty. Remember to discuss the topic of the research before you start writing the thesis as it will lower the risk of being rejected. There are other aspects which you should consider for choosing the right topic, some of them as below:

  • Personal interest must be laid regarding the topic
  • Your own knowledge and skill must be considered
  • The data should be assessed easily
  • The topic should be of scientific importance
  • The topic should be crucial for a future professional career.
  • The topic should of social interest

Make a plan for the preliminary research

The preliminary research in the thesis should begin with giving an outline of the thesis. It will guide you with a thesis regarding what to include and what to exclude. Therefore, never skip writing an outset of the thesis. Do you make think what is the other benefit for it? It will make your work more precise with the progression of the work.

The way to complete the thesis

By giving an outline, you can also make an intermediate report that presents one or more sections like a literature review. If you are researching that involves data, you can describe the data followed by analysis. You may think about the unfinished sections. In the intermediate report, you can outline the topic of the unfinished sections. It will make thesis writing an easy task and gives paper help based on the feedback received on the intermediate report. Once it is done you can complete the rest of the work effortlessly.

Three areas where the thesis is mainly assessed

You may wonder why you get fewer marks despite finishing all the details of the thesis. My research has found that the supervisor evaluates your research question, the scientific concept of the thesis, and how you have implemented your thesis and work. You should define the research question comprehensively to allow the reader what is the area of the research. You also need to consider how to define the orientation of the research question. For explaining the scientific work of the thesis, you need to critically define the concept by highlighting the conceptual framework. Make use of the evidence-based method to address the research question. In conclusion, you should present it in a summary format without adding new information. Always make use of the source and citations that are peer-reviewed as it will add credibility. Many of the students make use of an unreliable source that gives fewer marks to your thesis. Your presentation of work should be clear and explicit.

Make sure about the organization of your thesis

The general structure should follow an accepted section which includes the following details:

  • Cover page: On the cover page, the title of the thesis should be clear and informative that highlights your main area of research.
  • Abstract: The main part of the thesis that gives an overview is the abstract. The reader will show interest in your thesis if the abstract is written in a clear format. Hence, you need to focus on the abstract in the thesis which many of the students fails to consider.
  • Table of content: For formulating the table of content, the title of the heading and subheading should be short and clear.
  • Introduction: The main purpose while writing the introduction is to explain the theme of the research that gives interest to the reader. It should carry the description and background information on the topic. Moreover, you should highlight the importance of the research domain, its purpose, research problem, association with the previous research, and recognition of the research gap. Many of the students give a plain introduction that does not add any reliability. Therefore, you need to be focused on each section of the thesis.
  • Theoretical framework: This is not the exact heading of the thesis; however, it carries the information about the key terms, concepts, the approach of research, empirical studies, and defining the research strategy.
  • Data and research method: Many of you simply give an outline of the research method and data analysis section. It is the major drawback of your thesis. You have to gives justification for the method and data used for the analysis. It will add reliability to the research and gives credits.
  • Conclusion: You have to start writing the conclusion of the thesis by restating the purpose of the thesis and research problem. Then you need to answer the following question:
  1. What is the result?r
  2. Extend that support the research and its result.
  3. Is the result generalized? Explain it.
  4. How precise is the result?
  5. What are the limitations of the research?
  6. How can use the result for future work?

Consider the technical issue of formulating a thesis

  •  Always consider the formal tone of writing and standard language
  • Cite the reference correctly
  • Check grammar error
  • The list of references should have all the citations. Always cross-check
  • The text illustration should be clear like tables, graphs, and tables. All should be linked in the text with an explicit explanation. Always cite the image, graph, and table not created by you.

Therefore, always keep yourself calm and relax while preparing a thesis as it will give paper help and fetch credits.
