Jim Collins Biography

James C. “Jim” Collins is an author, consultant, and lecturer on the subject of business management and company sustainability and growth. In his “Good to Great” book, Collins’ BIG IDEA was in identifying the factors common to those few companies which achieve success for a substantial period. In the book, which was published in 2001, Collins describes how companies transition from being good companies to great companies and how most companies fail to make the transition.

James C. “Jim” Collins’ books have gained significant positions on the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Business Week best-seller lists. His books have sold in the millions, and they have been translated into 32 languages.

Jim Collins’ book “Good to Great: Why Some Companies Make the Leap… and Others Don’t” describes how companies transition from being good companies to great companies, and how most companies fail to make the transition. “Greatness” is defined as financial performance several multiples better than the market average over a sustained period.
