5 Tips For Attracting Talented Employees To Your Business In 2021

By | Ryan Cook

Every organization wants to hire the best employees out there. You want people who are hard working, proactive, and love what they do. How are you going to convince the most talented, loyal employees to come to your business instead of someone else’s? To attract high quality employees, you have to be a high quality employer. Here are some of the best ways in 2021 to create an environment that will attract the best employees your field has to offer.

  • Build Your Company’s Employer Reputation

Think of creative ways you can show the world that your company is an awesome place to work at. Create an atmosphere of friendly people, clean spaces, generous holiday gifts and time off, and then watch how the word of mouth spreads. Remember that the opinions of past, present, and future job candidates matter. If your hiring process is disorganized and unaccepted candidates get turned away feeling mistreated, they’ll likely discourage those around them from applying. Similarly, if past employees had a great experience working for you and they felt very appreciated and well treated as they were leaving the company, they’ll likely speak highly of your company for the rest of their lives. Constantly be conversing with employees about what aspects of the job are the best and what aspects could be improved and seek to mitigate annoying or risky business practices you might be engaged in. Go out of your way to get this feedback and don’t make assumptions.

  • Offer Good Dental and Health Benefits

Offering great health benefits is a huge attraction for employees. Everyone is looking for the best way to take care of their family’s basic needs. Standard benefits cover basic medical, disability, retirement preparation, and life insurance. Beat out your competitors by offering above and beyond. Offer a family plan, and include prescription drug coverage, pregnancy and childbirth, mental health services, and dental. Lots of employees and managers love having onsite dental clinics come to the office so they don’t have to make a special trip to the dentist at all. Anything extra is just one more reason for a high quality employee to choose you over the competition. And if you can’t afford to do something extra with health and dental benefits, just having decent benefits will make your company an interesting option for more candidates.

  • Look For Public Speaking Opportunities

Build your company’s reputation by having leaders and employees speak publicly. Present to places where your future talent is such as business forums, job fairs, college classes, and community groups. This will get your company name and mission in front of the people you may be interested in hiring. If they know more about your company, and have seen it in a position of authority and reputability, this can only improve your chances of attracting the right kind of people. If you look in the right places, there are even ways to get paid to speak at events. This will not only incentivize your current employees to participate, but paid gigs are more likely to provide an audience of relevant potential connections.

  • Provide Opportunities for Personal Growth

Most high quality employees are not only looking for a paycheck. They are looking for development in their field and as an individual. They want valuable skills and connections. You can increase your company’s desirability by providing these opportunities to grow as a person and as a professional. A company can show that they care by offering workshops and masterclasses about personal development, technical skills, and even certifications. Always encourage employees to engage in conventions and training in order to develop their skill sets. Doing so will make them happier and also strengthen the company as well, as employees have more insights and expertise to offer.

  • Create An Employee Referral Program

According to a LinkedIn study, word of mouth referrals are the number one way that people decide to apply to certain workplaces. Why not capitalize on that? Frequently remind your employees that you’re always looking for more talented team members, and encourage your employees to have their friends and family apply. These kinds of referrals frequently end up being the best candidates, because those that have recommended them for the job know they’ll be a good fit. Additionally, when they get hired they’re already working with people that they like and it helps them integrate into the company faster and be happier. Let your whole company known what positions you’re hoping to fill. If you really need new employees, you might also consider paying a juicy bonus to employees who bring candidates that end up getting the job.
