BENGALURU: There has been a steep rise in the number of internship positions over the past six years, says a study by Internship and training platform Internshala.
The platform’s annual intern hiring trends report for 2020 shows that this number crossed the 1 million mark in 2019 – a key indicator of the growing opportunities for Indian students to gain practical exposure and build their skill-set via internships.
The report also finds that the field of management offered the maximum number of internships to students – 49% of the total internship positions. These comprise of profiles in marketing, business development, finance, operations, human resources, digital marketing, and sales. Management is closely followed by the fields of media and engineering, making up 22% and 17% of the internship positions.
