Last week, I came across AadharJobs, a start-up from Pune that has attached all the Resumes on major job portals to their UID numbers(Unique Identification Number or Aadhaar). They get the access to the UID database through the Aadhaar Verification Service (AVS) available on the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)’s website.
And that’s not it! The real USP is they incentivise recruiters to record if the candidate has rejected or accepted the offer made, and if the candidate honored the acceptance (and showed up on the joining date). In the last 18 months, they have built a ‘reputation system’ for the job seekers – number of offers, and number of offers honored (like a ‘credit history’ that represents creditworthiness). They are solving a very pertinent problem that recruiters and hiring managers face daily – will this candidate join us or not?
Imagine the possibilities in this world where you know the probability of joining, of the person you are desperately looking to hire! When you don’t have to keep praying till the person shows up on the joining date, when you would upfront know how many offers this person has not honored so far in his career! When you can get pointers on if he or she is a frequent flier or fly-by-night operator, how much to negotiate on the joining date and how far to hope! I am sick of people who agree to join and later don’t honor the offer.
And then the morning alarm woke me up! I wanted to continue believing that it was not a dream and that I was not making a fool of myself on the April Fool’s day, but none of it was to be true! Happy April 1st 🙂
